By Mary Donaty – Owner and operator of Paradise Found Fiber Farm
Early this year my farm was part of a rescue effort; 176 alpacas were in trouble in Oregon. OSU stepped in and treated the neglected and undernourished animals then Cross Creek Alpaca Rescue of Tenino, WA organized a massive project to rehome the animals that could travel.
On March 22, 2014 six of these Suri Alpaca girls came to Paradise Found Fiber Farm and on May 24, 2014 Misty May Lynn was born weighing in at 16 lbs. Abigail, her mom, is a doing a great job; at age 11 she’s had many babies and knows just what to do. All of the girls are now free from their mud caked legs, gaining weight and will soon be sporting new haircuts.
Come visit these new arrivals, meet other sweet alpacas and shop the fiber store. Paradise Found Fiber Farm is open weekends year round and weekdays by chance; (if you know when you’re going to arrive call ahead). For a fun summer adventure mark your calendars for the Whidbey Island FiberQuest with a SUMMER Twist on July 12 and 13th from 10 to 5 pm. There are 8 participating Fiber Farms & Yarn Shops with lots of family friendly activities!
I'd love to hear from you!
