May Day is a joyous spring holiday and it is also International Workers’ Day. This holiday is associated with the Roman festival of Flora, the goddess of flowers, Celtic Beltane and German Walpurgis Night. Traditions include young women washing their face with the morning dew to ensure lovely skin, dancing the maypole and crowning the Queen of the May. Baskets of flowers are often picked and given to friends.
This year we are going to do a Beltane fire and try out a new bottle of the plum wine we made a couple of years ago. What will you do to celebrate?
I'd love to hear from you!
