Despite the chill all the recent sun has made being out in the garden a delight. This time of year the main tasks are continuing the early fall clean up, planting late bulbs and tucking tender plants in for the winter.

The rosemary is blooming away and it’s still not too late to harvest several sprigs to dry for winter stews.

Cutting back the dogwood to its main stems last winter resulted in many long slender branches that will be perfect for basket making.

Kale overwinters well and the frost makes it sweeter. Now is a good time to remove diseased or bug eaten leaves.

If you haven’t done it already you can still spread some thin layers of mulch and compost to mellow over the winter.
I'd love to hear from you!
